Documenting a Pensacola Beach loss when access is delayed in East Milton

November 5, 2026 · PAJOE Public Adjusters

Access restrictions after a storm can leave you unsure what happened at the property. Follow the official closure and reentry instructions. Keep the notices with the dates they applied and save any safe third-party images you receive. Label the date and source of those images. If you have reason to believe there is damage, contact the carrier promptly and explain which observations are confirmed and which areas you cannot inspect yet.

Plan the first safe visit

Take wide photos first so later close-ups have context. Record any areas closed off by debris or safety conditions. Keep a note of the time you entered, who was with you and what temporary measures were possible. If a contractor puts up temporary protection before a full inspection, ask for dated photos and a written explanation of what they could see.

Update the insurer as information improves

For example, report visible roof damage from an early exterior photo, then document interior water damage separately once you can enter. Record discovery dates and provide the updated evidence with the original claim number. Ask the carrier which policy conditions and documents apply when inspection was delayed. Keep receipts for protective work and copies of access-related correspondence.
