Starting an NFIP flood claim in Perdido Key in ZIP 32577
November 5, 2026 · PAJOE Public Adjusters
Report the flood promptly to the insurer or agent shown on your flood policy. You can start the claim even if access to the property is still restricted. Follow safety instructions and photograph the exterior, water line and affected rooms once you can enter safely. Ask the carrier how it wants you to handle unsafe items and record them before disposal when practical.
Keep two evidence lists
Check whether the policy lists building coverage, contents coverage or both. Put built-in finishes and equipment in one list and personal property in another. Record location, condition and measurements. For example, photograph water levels in a ground-level storage area and note the elevation of each item instead of assuming that everything inside the structure is treated alike.
Ask about the proof of loss early
Request the current form, submission instructions and deadline for your claim. Ask what documentation is needed alongside the estimate and what to do if you identify a missing item. Keep a signed copy and proof of delivery of anything you submit. An adjuster’s estimate can help with the paperwork, while the carrier’s instructions and policy govern what is required.
